千里迢迢到中国学医，这位印度萌新的“水朋友”是谁？

　　找呀找呀找朋友，找到一个好朋友~

　　在刚刚进入一个陌生的环境时，我们通常会用交朋友的方式来缓解不安。

　　而在最新一期的“少年会客厅”节目中，来自印度的留学生Evan Noel为我们分享了他和“水朋友”的故事。

　　作为广东省南方医科大学的大一“萌新”，他初到陌生国度的焦虑与不安，都被同学们的热情迎接所驱散了。

　　回忆起在中国的经历时，他总是面带微笑。朋友们温暖的帮助让他感叹：“中国从未让我感到排外”。

　　那么，他所说的“水朋友”到底是谁呢？

　　初到异国的不安

　　My name is Evan Noel, I am a student of Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China. As I account everything that happened, I still catch myself smiling alone, feeling mesmerized by my experiences.

　　我叫埃文·诺埃尔，目前就读于中国广东省南方医科大学。当我描述身边所发生的一切时，总会不由自主地面带微笑，沉浸在过去的经历里。

　　I recall what were my last few days before I left home to enter a new country the feeling of anxiety and nervousness of not knowing what to expect it was as though we arrive with nothing but the very clothes on our back.

　　还记得离家前的最后几天，前往陌生国度的未知让我感到焦虑不安。打个比方，好像除了背上背着的衣服，我们什么都没有带。

　　Upon my arrival, I remember the warm smile of some of our seniors waiting for us to bring us to the university and how welcoming many other students were to us that day. I met a few fellow classmates and seniors who all helped us feel comfortable in the new setting.

　　我到达时，还记得几位学长学姐的温暖笑容，他们等候接站，并带我们前往学校，我也记得那天其他同学们的热情欢迎。我遇到了一些同学和学长学姐，他们都热心帮助我们适应新环境。

　　我有一个“水朋友”

　　Later that night, I had to answer the door to a very polite Chinese gentleman who came to bring us a huge jug of drinking water but unfortunately I did not know what he was trying to tell me. 

　　晚上晚些时候，一位很有礼貌的中国绅士给我们送了一大桶饮用水，但遗憾的是我听不懂他想要和我说什么。

　　He then proceeded to draw out the number eighteen on the door post and I softly laughed to myself when I realized that it was the cost of those jugs and we could ask him to bring it for us when we were in need. He agreed to let me pay him the next day when I obtained some money. My friend would casually call him Shui pengyou in Chinese.

　　后来他指着门柱上的号码18，我才轻轻笑出了声，意识到那是水的价格的意思。我们告诉他希望他能在我们需要的时候给我们送水。他同意让我们第二天取完钱之后再付他钱。我的朋友经常叫他“水朋友”。

　　身边的小确幸

　　One morning before I went to class I stopped by a store in the canteen to get a pack of milk and I struggled to ask how much I had to pay for it. The nice lady by the counter was pleasantly helpful to me.

　　有一天，在早上上课前，我路过食堂的超市去买了一盒牛奶，在我努力说清我应该付多少钱时，收银台旁边一位非常善良的女孩帮助了我。

　　As I walked out she gave me a very warm smile which greatly comforted me, to the point that I would daily purchase something from her store, which was all I could do to convey my gratitude.

　　当我走出超市时，她给了我一个非常温暖的微笑，极大地安慰了我。我每天都会从她的超市里买点儿东西，这也是我所能做的向她表达感激的方式。

　　中国从未让我感到排外

　　I gradually became a part of the flow of life in China, even though I could barely speak the language at the time. And soon, even that was not much of a problem as I had met a new friend, a foreign student like me from Indonesia who could speak Chinese and we started to enjoy each other’s presence became roommates and soon became best friends till this date.

　　我开始渐渐适应中国的生活，即使当时我还不太会说中文。但很快，这个问题也不算什么了，因为我交到了一位新朋友，想我一样也是一位外国留学生，他来自印度尼西亚，会说中文。我们相处得很愉快，成为了室友和彼此最好的朋友。

　　China has never made me feel left out since the people of China were very kind and amazingly helpful to everyone they meet. I hold all my experiences and the people of China very dear to me and like to recall it all back every so often. I’ve grown and improved tremendously since the last time I was in China and look forward to experiencing more on my journey. 

　　中国从未让我感到排外，因为中国人都很友好，非常乐于助人。我非常珍视我在中国的经历和我遇到的中国人，也喜欢经常回忆起他们。自上次到中国以来，我成长和进步了许多，我也非常期待未来的生活。

　　A Personal Recount About Student Life in China

　　My name is Evan Noel, I am a student of Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China. As I account everything that happened, I still catch myself smiling alone, feeling mesmerized by my experiences.

　　我叫埃文·诺埃尔（Evan Noel），目前就读于中国广东省南方医科大学。当我描述身边所发生的一切时，总会不由自主地面带微笑，沉浸在过去的经历里。

　　 I recall what were my last few days before I left home to enter a new country the feeling of anxiety and nervousness of not knowing what to expect it was as though we arrive with nothing but the very clothes on our back. Metaphorically speaking, being an international student and not knowing the common language, or the culture, or society we will be entering.

　　还记得离家前的最后几天，前往陌生国度的未知让我感到焦虑不安。打个比方，好像除了背上背着的衣服，我们什么都没有带。身为一名国际学生，我们不会说当地的语言，也不了解当地社会文化。

I met a few fellow classmates and seniors who all helped us feel comfortable in the new setting. People were even excited to meet us and came to find us in our rooms.

　　我到达时，还记得几位学长学姐的温暖笑容，他们在等候接站、带我们前往学校，我也记得那天其他同学们的热情欢迎。我遇到了一些同学和学长学姐，他们都热心帮助我们适应新环境。甚至大家见到我们都有些激动，还会来宿舍找我们。

　　As we settled in, the room I was given was a huge space with nothing much inside other than a pair of cupboards, beds, tables and shelves for me and my roommate. 　　当我们安顿住下，我们分到的房间很大，除了我和舍友的一对柜子、两张床、两张桌子和两个书架以外什么都没有。晚上晚些时候，一位很有礼貌的中国绅士给我们送了一大桶饮用水，但遗憾的是我听不懂他想要和我说什么。

　　My immediate danger however was my lack of communication in Chinese language, which greatly hindered my daily life, and I was lacking behind on classes since I arrived later than my other classmates. It even came to a point where I’d skip a meal or two because I did not know the proper words to speak when at the canteen.

　　然而我最迫切的困难是我不会用中文交流，这也极大影响了我的日常生活。因为我比其他同学来得晚，我在班上的成绩也相对落后。有时我甚至一天会错过一两顿饭，因为我不知道在食堂应该怎么说才合适。

　　She must have understood that I was a new student, so she wrote down the numbers on the counter and allowed me to pay her in loose change since I could not yet pay with an electronic wallet, and as I walked out she gave me a very warm smile which greatly comforted me, to the point that I would daily purchase something from her store, which was all I could do to convey my gratitude.

　　她一定看出来我是新来的学生，所以她在柜台上写下金额，也同意让我付给她零钱，因为当时我还不会用电子钱包支付。当我走出超市时，她给了我一个非常温暖的微笑，极大地安慰了我。我每天都会从她的超市里买点儿东西，这也是我所能做的向她表达感激的方式。

　　He got me accustomed to different kinds of food and flavors, helped me improve my Chinese level and for what I am most grateful for, he even bought food when my family could not send pocket money from home.

　　他带领我品尝了不同种类的食物和口味，帮助我提升了中文水平。我最感激的是，他甚至在我家里没有寄来零花钱时给我买吃的。

　　China has never made me feel left out since the people of China were very kind and amazingly helpful to everyone they meet. I hold all my experiences and the people of China very dear to me and like to recall it all back every so often. I’ve grown and improved tremendously since the last time I was in China and look forward to experiencing more on my journey. Thank you.

　　中国从未让我感到排外，因为中国人都很友好，非常乐于助人。我非常珍视我在中国的经历和我遇到的中国人，也喜欢经常回忆起他们。自上次到中国以来，我成长和进步了许多，我也非常期待未来的生活。谢谢大家。
